A town still under construction
At the 2023 Census, 192 of Lincoln's 4,026 private dwellings were being built. Consents have stayed busy since, with 256 new dwellings consented in the year to March 2026.
Nearly half of Lincoln homes (48.6%) have four bedrooms. Size a hot water cylinder to the people living there, not the floor plan; our cylinder size tool is a starting point.

What we would do
Buying a new Lincoln home? Before settlement, ask the builder for the plumbing and drainage plans and every certificate. If there's fixed gas, get the Gas Safety Certificate, which every connected gas job needs. For later work, check the person's PGDB licence covers that exact trade, because plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying are licensed separately.
Also see Rolleston and Christchurch gasfitting. Tell us about the Lincoln job and a tradie who handles it can pick it up. Your contact details go to them alone.
