The company
Name: PlumbMatch, run from Australia
Reaching us: we don't run a phone line, a public email address or a contact form; new jobs come in through the job form
Where: we are signing up plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers right across New Zealand
Why one tradie per job
Some services send each request to several businesses at once. PlumbMatch shows your job to the local tradies who fit it, but your contact details go only to the one who takes it.
You have one conversation, and the tradie knows the job is theirs to quote.
Why the licence check comes first
In New Zealand, most plumbing and drainlaying is restricted work, and all gasfitting is. The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB), set up in 1912, decides who may do it.
PGDB's own campaign warns that some people advertise this work without being licensed or authorised. Authorisation also belongs to people, not companies. So we look up the licence of each named person who will do the work, and their supervisor, before a tradie sees a single job.
What PlumbMatch is not
Not a plumbing firm. It employs no plumbers, gasfitters or drainlayers and sends nobody to your home. The tradie who takes your job quotes it, does it and answers for it.
Not a government agency. PlumbMatch is a private business. It isn't part of PGDB, a council or a water provider, and it runs no subsidy scheme.
Not a directory. There is no list to scroll through. You describe the job, and the tradies who fit it can see it.
Who does what
PlumbMatch runs the website and the job form, checks that each mobile number is real and shows each job to the tradies who fit it. Your details are held in Australia.
The privacy policy sets out who sees your job and who ends up with your details.
Where to start
A new plumbing, gas or drain job goes through the job form. If a job has gone wrong, start with complaints and disputes.
