Three trades, three licences
In New Zealand, plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying are separate trades, each regulated by the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB). Most plumbing and drainlaying is restricted work and all gasfitting is, so whoever does it needs a current practising licence that covers that trade.
That's why we match by the job, not just the postcode. A blocked sewer line, a new califont and a leaking cylinder can each need a different person. Not sure which you need? Try our which tradie guide or the guide to plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer.

How matching works
PlumbMatch is a referral service: we don't do plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying ourselves. Tell us the job and your suburb, and local tradies who cover your area see the job, your first name and suburb, but never your phone number or email. Of the tradies who see it, only the tradie who takes your job gets your contact details, then rings you to talk it through.
Whoever turns up, you can check them yourself. Ask to see their practising licence, then search their own first and last name on the PGDB register. Our licence check guide shows how.
