The parties
PlumbMatch runs this website and its matching service from Australia. "We" and "us" in these terms mean PlumbMatch, and "you" means the person using the site.
What the service does
You describe a plumbing, gas or drain job. We show it to tradies who do that kind of work and cover your area, with your first name and suburb but without your phone number or email.
The first tradie to take the job receives your contact details and message so they can get in touch. A job nobody local takes within 48 hours may be shown to tradies elsewhere in your region.
We check your mobile number is real and use automated tools to read your message and gauge the size of the job. Your details are held in Australia, and some of our service providers are in the United States. See the privacy policy.
What the service isn't
PlumbMatch is not a plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying business. We don't inspect jobs, set prices or give quotes, and we can't promise that a tradie will take every job.
We are not a party to any quote, contract or warranty between you and the tradie.
The tradie and the work
Each tradie is an independent business. The quote, the work, payment and any warranty are between you and them.
Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights over the tradie's services apply automatically and can't be signed away. If the job counts as residential building work, the Building Act's implied warranties may apply as well.
Ask for a written quote before work starts. A quote is a set price; an estimate is only a best guess. Plumbing quotes explained covers what a good one includes.
What we ask of you
- Tell us the truth about the job and the best way to reach you.
- Send someone else's contact details only with their OK.
- Use the job form for real jobs, not for testing, spam or harvesting tradies' details.
- Don't republish big chunks of this site elsewhere.
Information on this site
Our pages are general information, not advice for your situation. Rules can differ between councils and water providers, and they change, so check with the body a page names before relying on a rule.
Liability
Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 stay in place, and nothing in these terms cuts them down.
Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for a tradie's quote, advice or work. Those are matters between you and the tradie who took your job.
Changes and governing law
New Zealand law applies to these terms, and any dispute about them is for the New Zealand courts.
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the version in force.
